Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026 is the Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games of 2026, carrying on the organization, promotion and communication of the sporting and cultural events related to the next Winter Games.

Milano Cortina 2026 will be the first large-scale Olympics in history: 9 Olympic venues, 21 provincial capitals, 2,300 municipalities directly involved, over an area of 22,000 square km.

The Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee has been established in 2019 with the purpose of organizing Olympic and Paralympic Games in compliance with the Host City Contract signed jointly by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the two cities of Milano and Cortina and the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).

Furthermore, the Italian Paralympic Committee, the Regions of Lombardy and Veneto, as well as the Autonomous Provinces of Trento and Bolzano/Bozen are all partners in this major national-level project, with the support of the Italian Government.

Position

We are looking for a Art Director

Responsible for the design, planning, elaboration and development of all programmes related to brands, sub-brands, Look of the Games and all items of the visual identity of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games, aiming at strengthening the brand, generating business opportunities for other functional areas, sponsors and partners, and showcasing the best of Italian design and creativity worldwide.


  • Work closely with multiple OCOG’s functional areas, partners, designers, external agencies, printing houses and others suppliers to ensure the highest quality work is produced and guarantee one single voice in all designs projects.
  • Responsible for all design projects, from the idea, through mood boards, mock-ups to final client/areas presentations. Lead and motivate the team of designers to bring ideas to life and out into the world.
  • Conception, creation and development of the Milano Cortina 2026 Games sub-brands architecture (Torch Relay, Education, Culture among others programmes) aiming integration with the Games emblems visual identity and purpose.
  • Lead the process of designing the Look of the Games (proprietary visual identity which will be applied in all sport and non-sport venues and the cities during Games time), as well as promote its creative and scientific deployment to multiple online and offline platforms.
  • Define the rules and guidelines for applying the Look of the Games, analysing technical and specific criteria for each sport, sports equipment, uniforms etc, as well as lead the team in conducting a study of each of the sports and non-sports venues, in order to ensure uniformity in all touchpoints.
  • Support the Licensing area and its design agency in the creation and development of layouts for all licensed product lines, ensuring the correct application of the Games visual identity.
  • Plan and manage the entire Design area budget.
  • Work closely with the Brand Manager in the marks approvals process to ensure the integrity of the Milano Cortina 2026 brands applications and purpose.
  • Ensure that the designs and the selection of suppliers and materials follow the Fondazione sustainability standards.
  • Liaise with the IOC and the IPC regarding the Design projects strategy, implementation and approvals.
  • Lead, motivate and support the Design team under his/her supervision to deliver a world-class brand and visual identity programme.
  • Liase with external agencies in complex projects



Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in the creative field with at least 3+ years spent in a senior or art director position;
  • Demonstrated passion for design and creative;
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire the team;
  • Work productively and harmoniously with designers, copywriters and project managers who share the responsibility on the project.;
  • Make all the clients and stakeholders involved in the project feel heard and inspired in presentations;
  • Understand the trends, brands and the design industry at large, with the ability to produce useful visual references to sell work in and engage the clients and stakeholders;
  • Creative, well organized & detail-oriented;
  • Project management and leadership skills to manage complex projects and balance multiple priorities;
  • Talent for guiding creative internal staff, agencies and suppliers to do the best work;
  • Good working knowledge of English;
  • Adobe Package (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign).
